For those who can not use yeast (allergies, celiac) you can substitute it for this: vitamin C -either crushed or the powdered vitamin c supplement ( I use Ester -C) baking powder This is what you do: Just simply divide the amount the receipe calls for regarding “yeast” between the vitamin c and baking powder. For example: 2 teaspoons yeast would equal to 1 tsp vitamin c and 1 tsp baking powder------> (試了很多次都不成功!再試baking soda,好了一點點。)
I have used this in my yeast recipes and it works great..whether in the bread machine or the oven.
Unless your bread machine has a “quick bread” setting for breads raised with baking powder/baking soda, I don’t think you are going to be able to make a yeast free bread in it. If you do have a quick bread setting your manual probably has some recipes that you can use as-is or adapt according to the flavors your family likes. For instance, if your manual has a banana bread recipe, you could adapt it using applesauce or pureed carrots instead of banana. Good luck!
Self-Rising Flour DOES NOT contain yeast. It is all-purpose flour with baking powder and salt added. It is used for “quick breads.”
If a recipe calls for self-rising flour and all you have is all-purpose flour, make your own by adding 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt for every cup of flour in the recipe.
