Today we feature a hands on in the building and use of a Hawaiian Holua Sled on the hills of Kaka'ako Park.
We hear a brief history of holua, a short Mo'oleo about 2 famous holua sledders: Pele & Poliahu
& the opportunity to see/ touch/ use/ and make some of the items used in the construction of the sled (aha niu, "ohe, kukui nut oil)
We also have to actually help in the construction of a sled
and ultimately Mommy and I have a chance to see what it is like to actually participate in this acient Hawaiian sport.
