Mommy went to Chinatown this morning and brought a cooler of LIVE prawns. We
put them in three tubs and watched them swim, scoot, and jump. We touched
their feelers, head, claws, tail, looked at girls with eggs, and some of us
got pinched! Larken gets the award for being so brave and got some good
pinches too!
Then out came the paper and markers. We drew shrimp from what we
remembered and went to the meeting rug to share our drawings.
Then it
was Thalia's mom who cooked the shrimp with butter and garlic. We watched
the live shrimp turn a beautiful orange in the pan. There was excitement as
several prawns jumped out of the skillet.
Everyone had a whole prawn to munch on. The children were instructed to pull the head off from the
tail, taste the head, and peel the shells off.Many of them liked inside the
head too! Lexie gets the award for eating hers clean! Some asked for seconds!
Yummy! What's next? Preschool is sooooooo FUN!
