video-My 1st Ballet Class (澄3y1m)

Pre-School Program – Ages 2 to 5 yrs old*

Children’s play has a central role in facilitating cognitive, motor and affective development.  Through play young children learn about their environment and come to understand the world around them. It is essential that children are encouraged to copy, explore, create, discuss and watch movement. Young childhood is NOT a time for limiting movement experiences.

Parent & Tots / Just Tots - Begins at age 2

Pre-Ballet 1 - Begins at age 3

Pre-Ballet 2 – Begins at age 4

* Classes at RAB follows the academic school year, students will graduate to the next level in June. Any advancement during the school year to the next level is solely at the instructor discretion.

The pre-school program provides a progressive program of study for the youngest students. Children will be given the opportunity to imagine, explore and be creative through movement. They are encouraged to describe emotions and explore creative worlds formed by movement and music. Each fundamental movement will be explored and experienced in a wide variety of contexts. Solid foundations are laid for children to reach their potential as future participants in dance and physical activity.

The goals of the Pre-School Program are:

•  To enhance children’s movement and abilities and physical fitness

•  To aid in becoming physically and spatially aware

•  To stimulate listening skills

•  To encourage expressive movement

•  To build confidence and self-esteem

•  To encourage children to be co-operative and sociable

The internationally renowned Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) is one of the largest and most respected ballet techniques in the dance world.  They promote not only the discipline of dance but also complete knowledge and understanding of dance.  Dancers progress is yearly reviewed by examinations to set standards and reward achievement.

The R.A.D. was founded in 1920, at the Trocadero Restaurant in Piccadilly, London, by a small group of eminent dance professionals.  Brought together by Philip Richardson, former editor of The Dancing Times, the group represented the leading European schools of ballet:  the Danish School, the Russian School, the Italian School, the French School and the English School.  Their concern about the poor quality and badly organized state of dance teaching in Britain at the time led to the emergence of the ‘Association of Teachers of Operatic Dancing in Great Britain’.

Over the next decade, the Association flourished, growing rapidly in size and influence and, at the last Privy Council Meeting of King George V (in 1935), it was granted a Royal Charter and became the Royal Academy of Dancing.  On the death of Queen Mary in 1953, HM Queen Elizabeth II became Patron of the Royal Academy of Dancing

Today the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum is taught in 79 countries, taught to over a quarter of a million students, has 36 offices worldwide and over 13,000 members
